Moms & Babies benefit from Chiropractic care!
Chiropractic has been a huge part of my life for the last 10+ years. I became such a believer after my own experience that I knew this was the field I wanted to start my career in. I’ve been working in chiropractic for over 7 years now as a Certified Chiropractic Technician, Certified Billing and Coder, and Patient Accounts Manager. I love to help educate patients and do community outreach to help teach others the value of chiropractic care and that it can help with so much more than people realize.
A lot of my followers have seen me post about my adjustments while I was going through infertility treatments, during my first and current pregnancy, as well as my son getting adjusted since the day he was born. Getting adjusted regularly has helped me so much through both of my pregnancies and continues to be why my family can keep healthy and survive cold & flu season! Some of you have reached out to me asking for more information on why a baby would need adjustments, and how it can help during pregnancy, so I figured I’d take this time to share my resources with you.
Let’s start off with pregnancy and chiropractic care. If you are pregnant or trying to conceive, one of the best things you can do is add chiropractic care to your healthcare routine. Your body should be as healthy and balanced as possible when carrying your child and Chiropractic helps ensure that all body systems are functioning properly. When seeing a Chiropractor, they will examine you and check for problems caused by nerve interference and then let you know how they can help adjust the specific areas to take pressure off the nerves causing the interference. So, let’s get down to business…what are the benefits you ask? Chiropractic can help maintain a healthy full-term pregnancy, help relieve nausea and heartburn, relieve aches and pains of pregnancy, and has even demonstrated success with premature contractions and back labor. Another common reason women seek care is for breech babies. Developed by the late Larry Webster, DC, the Webster technique has been very successful in correcting breech presentations. You can seek chiropractic care from the beginning to end of pregnancy and many even get adjusted during labor!
Now let’s talk about Chiropractic and babies! Most people look at me funny when I talk about how Porter got adjusted the day he was born, in the hospital, and has been adjusted weekly ever since. Nerve inference can be caused by many things even before your baby is born such as a constricted uterus, breech position in the womb, or difficult delivery. Chiropractors don’t necessarily check and adjust children because there is something wrong, they do it to ensure everything is right. Ensuring a nervous system is free from interference at these early stages of life enhances development and optimizes health and the body’s ability to adapt to stressful environments. Getting children adjusted regularly can help with things like sleep, eating, digestion, colic, ear infections, delayed milestones, torticollis, frequent colds, bed wetting, hyperactivity, and so much more!
Choosing regular chiropractic care for the whole family is a healthy lifestyle choice. Once parents understand that chiropractic is about optimizing health and function of the body, many choose regular checkups and adjustments to be proactive, rather than reactive once symptoms occur.
